How to Transfer a Domain out of GoDaddy
This is a guide on how to migrate your domain out of GoDaddy and into OSSDS.
Instructions
Logging into GoDaddy and starting the transfer:
Start by logging on to your GoDaddy account (GoDaddy.com) and going to “Domains.”
Once there, click “manage” on the domain you would like to transfer.
You will then be pulled to this page:
Scroll down and turn off the domain lock, then click “Transfer to Another Registrar”
After you click this you will see page warning you and giving you steps on how to proceed. Click “Continue with Transfer.” You will then need to verify that you indeed want to do this as it will send you a code to your email/phone.
You will receive an email with the authorization code, this code will be important later.
Transferring into OSSDS:
Start by logging into the WHMCS portal for OSSDS (https://www.ossds.com).
In the Home page of WHMCS, select the Domains icon under the Client Area in the center of the screen.
In the bottom left under the Actions tab, select Transfer in a Domain.
Enter the name of the domain that you are transferring in the box provided.
A new page should open titled Domains Configuration. Enter in the EPP (Authorization) Code acquired from GoDaddy. You can also configure your desired nameservers here.
Lastly, you will receive an email from OpenSRS asking if you approve of the domain transfer. Select the circle next to approve, and paste in your EPP (Authorization) code.
Once that is completed you can “hurry” the domain transfer by logging back into GoDaddy, then Domains, then Transfer, and click “Transfers Out” then Approve. If you do not do this step the domain could take up to a week to transfer over.
